1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Faction Arena (“the platform”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Faction. These terms form a binding agreement between you and Faction covering the website at factionarena.com and all practice, contest, forum and analytics features offered through it.
If you do not agree with these terms, do not create an account or use the platform.
2. Eligibility and account registration
The platform is intended for students preparing for competitive entrance examinations in India. Much of our user base is under 18. If you are a minor under the laws of your jurisdiction, you may use the platform only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the platform.
You must provide accurate registration details and keep them current. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at founder@factionarena.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorisation.
One person may hold one account. Accounts are personal to you and may not be sold, shared or transferred.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
(a) use the platform for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of these terms; (b) attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform, other users’ accounts, or our infrastructure; (c) probe, scan, overload or disrupt the platform, including by automated scraping, bulk downloading of problems, or denial-of-service techniques; (d) reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source of the platform except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law; (e) use automated tools, scripts or bots to solve problems, submit answers or manipulate ratings; or (f) resell, redistribute or publicly post our problem bank or solutions.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section, and may remove content or reverse ratings obtained through such a breach.
4. User-generated content in the doubt forum
The doubt forum lets you post questions, answers, explanations and comments (“your content”). You retain ownership of your content. By posting, you grant Faction a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display and distribute your content for the purpose of operating and improving the platform.
You are responsible for what you post. Do not post content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, harassing, hateful, infringing of another party’s intellectual property, or that contains personal information about another person. Do not post examination material you are not permitted to share, or spam and promotional content.
We do not pre-screen every post. We may remove content or restrict accounts where we consider content breaches these terms or applicable law. If you believe content on the platform infringes your rights, write to founder@factionarena.com with details and we will review it.
5. Contests, ratings and fair play
We run rated contests on a recurring basis. Contest problems, timing, scoring and rating changes are determined by us and may be adjusted from time to time. Participation is subject to the specific rules published for each contest alongside these terms.
Fair play is a condition of participation. During a rated contest you must not: collaborate with others unless the contest is explicitly designated as a team event; use a second account; share problems, answers or screenshots while the contest is live; or use any automated solver or external assistance not permitted by the contest rules.
Where we detect conduct that undermines contest integrity, we may void a submission, adjust or reset a rating, disqualify a participant, withhold a reward, or suspend the account. We aim to apply these measures proportionately, and you may contest a decision by writing to founder@factionarena.com. Ratings, ranks, streaks and badges are features of the platform, carry no monetary value, and confer no property right.
6. Rewards
Some achievements may qualify for rewards. Where a reward is offered, its eligibility conditions, availability and fulfilment timeline are as stated at the time of the offer. Rewards are non-transferable and have no cash equivalent unless expressly stated. We may substitute or withdraw a reward where it becomes unavailable.
7. Intellectual property
The platform, including its software, design, branding, problem bank, solutions, analytics and all associated materials, is owned by Faction or licensed to us, and is protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to access and use the platform for your own examination preparation.
Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of our intellectual property to you. Examination names such as JEE and NEET, and the names of the bodies that conduct them, are the property of their respective owners; we are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any examination authority.
8. Availability and changes to the platform
We work to keep the platform available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend or discontinue features, and may perform maintenance that makes the platform temporarily unavailable. We may update these terms; where changes are material we will take reasonable steps to notify you, and continued use after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
9. Educational nature of the service; no guarantee of results
Faction Arena is a practice and preparation tool. We do not guarantee any particular examination score, rank, admission or outcome. Problems and solutions are prepared with care but may contain errors; they are not a substitute for official syllabi, prescribed textbooks or guidance from your teachers. Please report any error you find to founder@factionarena.com.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Faction will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, goodwill, opportunity or anticipated examination outcome, arising out of or in connection with your use of the platform.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
11. Termination
You may stop using the platform and request deletion of your account at any time, as described in our privacy policy. We may suspend or terminate your access where you materially breach these terms, where required by law, or where we discontinue the service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property, limitation of liability and governing law, will survive.
12. Governing law and dispute resolution
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to any non-waivable right you have to bring proceedings in your local jurisdiction, the courts at Agartala, Tripura shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms.
